(2005-2006) In 2003, I visited Dessau in the eastern part of Germany, the home of the Bauhaus movement. There I saw the works of Mondrian, Kanadinsky, and Paul Klee, among others, in the studios that they had lived and worked in. I was so inspired by seeing the visual resolution and clarity of their colors and geometric forms, upon returning home I experimented in several mediums. Wood became my choice and constructing wall sculpture gave me the feeling I wanted. The works are made up of geometric forms and arcs to give them movement, a composition fusing the geometry and curves. Several sculptures are characterized by sweeping gestural lines or "drawings in space". The works are a range of sizes. They are not the result of a pre-planned compositional framework but evolve as each new component interacts with those already in the composition. I have a specific process, and the design is purely intuitive.
